As promised here's what I made Loo's Grandma for her birthday this past weekend.
It's a lavender microwavable heat bag, filled with barley and lavender essential oil. I used this tutorial from Sew Mama Sew and substituted barley for rice.
I also made a couple this past Christmas as gifts and borrowed them back to take pictures. Aren't they pretty? It's really too bad you can't smell them. The essential oil I used was VERY strong so instead of "sprinkling" with essential oil as the tutorial suggested I added one drop. (I can't remember very well back to December but I think I had to throw my first batch of barley out, either that or Epsom salts I tried to scent.)
I know it's not a new gift idea, but who doesn't like to cuddle up with one of these? I also love that this tutorial is for the heat bag (which is inside and is plain white material) and the removable, washable, Velcro closure cover. Love it.
Someday I hope to make one for me! Either that or make a pretty cover for that ugly Magic Bag I pull out all the time but don't have the heart to get rid of. Oh, the things I bought before I could sew!
