Christmas dress

I managed to get the Christmas lights off the tree and wrapped around my little ones for some pictures. To be fair they were put on the tree horribly (by me) and had to come off anyways. I had Mr. Crafty Ave move a couple pieces of furniture so we'd have a nice neutral backdrop for our pictures. It was 20 minutes well worth our while. I promise the pictures with their cute little faces are adorable.

The kids enjoyed it and I also managed to get pictures of Beri's new dress. This just might be her Christmas Day dress for 2011.

I used Heidi and Finn's cowl neck dress and some nice soft fleece. I debated back and forth whether I wanted a hood or a cowl neck.... I think it turned out nice.

Now what are the chances I get bored with it and make her a new Christmas Day dress before the 25th?

Elvis pants

The other night I finally finished my first pair of Treasure Pocket pants. They were one of the projects that was halted by my Husqvarna difficulties.  Last night as I was trying to convince Mr. Crafty Ave that it would be a good idea to take the Christmas lights off the tree and wrap them around the kids to take pictures Loo overheard me and started climbing onto the living room stool.

When I questioned him he reminded me that I hadn't taken pictures of his pants. You gotta love three year olds.  The white on the stool would the yogurt he had smeared all over his sweatshirt.

That sweatshirt. I promise it's not the only one he wears. You'd think it was the only one he has but this blog should be proof to the contrary. He even has some "real" clothes that he wears sometimes. You know the kind, the ones that are bought at a store and don't have random threads hanging out everywhere.

Happily he warmed up to these pants. When I showed them to him a few days ago he was quite disappointed that Elvis wasn't Obi Wan Kenobi and insisted he couldn't wear them. "They're too big mom. I can't wear them."

I'm also happy to see that I'm not alone in procrastinating all the Christmas projects I should tackle. Last night instead of doing any of the 1000 things that needed to be done, I blogged and made a real misfit of a sweatshirt for Beri.... Lots of time left...... right?

A-Line dresses

I bought Lil Blue Boo's latest pattern the Sweet A-Line dress. Mainly cause it was a project I could serge while my sewing machine was broke. Here's what I've made.... so far

A dress for Loo's best friends birthday party with a doll dress (shirt?) to match.

A comfy dress for Beri made of an old waffle knit shirt. I was able to keep the original hems on this one which made it super easy. Yes it's already stained on one shoulder. Oh the days when Loo was a baby and I would scrub those stains out... where did I find the time?

Dress for Beri with....

Matching leggings! These are the Heidi and Finn ones I've made her about a million pairs and never blogged them. They don't have elastic in them which I'm sure I've mentioned before but it makes them super easy, they can be made in 10 minutes flat. Maybe longer if you hem them.

When I tried this dress on her it was way to big, I think I went a size up for some reason. So I had to make a little tuck/pleat (I'm not sure the right word) in the neckline and secured it with a button. I think it added some much needed character.

Enjoy these raw edges, now that I'm back in the game I've been experimenting with knit hem lines. Armed with spray starch a double needle and all the other tricks I've gleaned I think I'm making some progress....

Scary bear sweatshirt

My machine is back! Of course it's not as simple as that a week and a half ago I got my repaired machine home sewed up this shirt with it and it promptly re-broke. Or perhaps was never fully fixed to begin with. So back we went, Beri and me hacking up our lungs with a chest infection and dropped it back off. Here's the shirt that re-broke it....

Another Heidi & Finn button hoodie. I was too lazy to do the buttons at the time. Since then I've gotten really lazy and decided I like it without the buttons.

It's made of an old sweatshirt of my dad's which Loo is pretty proud of. He loves looking at the animals and their tracks. Except when I put it on him this morning he acted afraid of it and said the bears were scary. Sorry little one we were in a rush and so you had to wear it anyway.

Happily I got my machine back again last week. So far so good. The dealer said as I walked away "Don't take this the wrong way but I hope to never see you again." Agreed.

How's everyone's holiday sewing going? I go back and forth between being upset I haven't done much and thankful for having a good excuse not to have a homemade gift for everyone. You never know, Christmas is still far enough away I'm sure I'll sew myself into a frenzy yet.

I've been feeling pretty meh about blogging lately. Maybe the return of my machine will get me going again. I do have lots of pictures hanging around of stuff I serged over the past month they're just dull and blah. We'll see how it goes....  We finished a painting project over the weekend which was pretty exciting, details may or may not follow at some point....
